The Quran describes the animal sacrifice as follows: “It is not their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah: it is your piety that reaches Him”
Every Eid-ul-Adha, Muslims all around the world slaughter an animal to honor Prophet Ibrahim’s readiness and commitment to sacrifice his son, Prophet Ismail (A.S).
Thousands of less fortunate Muslims are able to eat meat once a year and fill their stomachs thanks to their unwavering devotion to Allah Almighty. This year, you can help this worthy cause by contributing Qurbani to Baitulmaal Global Relief to people whose only hope is relief and charity.
During the Eid al-Adha celebrations, Allah values nothing more than the sacrifice of animals. Qurbani signifies sacrifice as it is an animal sacrifice conducted during Eid al-Adha in accordance with Prophet Ibrahim’s (A.S) tradition. Every year during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah, Muslims all around the world slaughters an animal – a goat, sheep, cow, or camel – to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail for the cause of God.
To perform Qurbani the right way, the goat must be at least one (full) year old, male or female. A cow, bull, or buffalo must be two years old, and a camel must be five years. However, younger animals are unsuitable for Qurbani. Also, Muslims can’t just slaughter any animal; it must be from livestock, such as Cattle (bovine), sheep (ovine), goats (caprine), camels, etc. The Companions were only believed to have slaughtered these animals at Eid Al-Aḍḥa.
A sheep or goat counts as one person, whereas up to seven people can share a camel or cow, and the sacrifice must be flawless, particularly in terms of flesh quality, to be approved by Allah Almighty.
